Step 1: About The Outsiders

"My favorite part was the rumble. This was a very violent time for the greasers. The Greasers had to fight the Socs to see who was better. This was my favorite part because of all the action." - Mars Bar Deas

"My favorite part of The Outsiders was when Johnny and Pony were outside looking at the sunset. It was really emotional and I really like emotional scenes." - Cherry Payne

"My favorite part in The Outsiders is when PonyBoy ran away with Johnny. I felt really bad for Pony, but it was worth running away. Pony had interesting adventures running away. They shaved their hair and even saved kids. Unfortunately, it had sad parts. One of its sad parts was when Johnny died saving the kids lives. I also thought Sodapop's letter was really sad." - Cydney Tatad

Step 4: Book Quotes

"Juvenile delinquent, you're no good!"- Darry Curtis

I picked this quote because I liked how Darry was making fun of Steve. - Cydney Tatad

"I only had two things on my mind. Paul Newman and a ride home." - Ponyboy Curtis

This is my favorite quote because it's very funny. To Ponyboy, this meant he needed a ride home and he was thinking of Paul Newman. To me most kids who walk from the movies are always thinking of a ride and their favorite movie actor. - Mars Bars Deas

"How would I know if he's bad or not? I ain't no doc.Yeah we need an escort."..."Sucker." - Dally Winston

It was a quote from my favorite character, Dally. It was a funny(-ish) scene, and it shows how desperate they were to see Johnny. - Cherry Payne

"Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold." - Johnny Cade

This was my favorite quote - Two-Bit Schutz

Step 4: Quotes from real life:

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

To me, this quote means that if you have something negative on your mind, the only thing that can drive it out is something positive. For example, if you are in a dark room, The only think that can drive it away is light. One time, I didn't get a very good grade in woodshop. After working hard for a whole quarter, I managed to bring it up to an A-. In that case, bad grades were driven away by good grades. A positive thing has a much greater power than a negative thing. In fact, when you are in a bad mood, think of something nice so that you'll be in a good mood. - Cydney Tatad

"Stumbling is not falling." -Malcolm X

This applies to my life by helping me remember no matter how many times I fail I can rise back up. if I made a bad homework grade, I could raise it back up and redo the work. This quote is also meaningful outside of school. In the baseball and football team, if i get struck out or miss a ball, i can still get back up and try again. - Mars Bars Deas

"Education is the passport to the future for tomorrow belongs tot hose who prepare for it today." - Malcolm X

If you want to get to something ,say, an art school, or maybe a teacher. First you would have to have an education. If you get an education today then tomorrow (figuratively speaking), you will be able to become what you want. Here's one example. there's a door named "Tomorrow" which is locked, and you need a key to open it. There is a box to your right. It's labeled "today." When you open the box you see a key. It's labeled "education." that goes into the doors. you enter they key of "education" into the doors of "tomorrow" The doors unlock, and in front of you you see your new classroom awaiting you. Your dream job. to be a teacher. Your education from today unlocks many new opportunities for tomorrow. - Cherry Payne

Step 5: Projects Review

For our 3rd quarter project, we had to work with our tribe to do a project about The Outsiders. We could do a writing project, a video, or a diorama. My tribute did a writing project in the perspective of the Socs.     – Cydney Tatad

For Q3, the class had to work with their hunger game partners. My partner was Nina and she was new, but I showed her the way. We had to do a project on this book called The Outsiders. I made a really cool trailer and Pokémon cards while Nina made a really cool comic. The trailer had pictures with a music background, the cards had the characters faces on the top and a description the bottom, and the comic was about Dally’s death.

-Mars Bars Deas

For our TO project, we made a comic book with dogs, instead of humans. We did 2 different scenes from the book. We chose the church burning scene and the “Kill Bob” scene. I drew a draft, scanned it, and then redrew it on the computer. I colored it and added effects on the computers. It took 7 hours to do. I got a 105 on the project.

-Cherry Payne
